The Hana Matsuri is a traditional festival of Toei town. It has been performed for over 700 years. The festival has been held since the the Kamakura and Muromachi era. It has traditionally been held in 11 different areas within Toei. These festivals are held as part of the Hana Matsuri. The local townspeople perform various types of dances and ceremonies such as the Sakaki oni and Yamami oni.

Each year, three or four select areas of Toei are chosen to perform several different types of dances.


Events

Hana Matsuri Performance

Several kinds of Hana Matsuri dances and ceremonies will be performed by Futto, Fukawa, and the Higashisonome Conservation Group. You will undoubtedly feel the exciting atmosphere of the Hana Matsuri.


Shidara Japanese Taiko Performance Group

Shidara is a group of Japanese drum, "Wadaiko" players. They are based out of the Higashisonome area of Toei town. They are well known musicians nation wide. Click here to view their web site.


Local Shops and Local Products

You will find many different kinds of local Toei products, such as sake, chicken, pickles, green tea, craft works, tofu, and Japanese sweets. You can find these items at most of the local shops and stores.

by car

Please get off the Tomei Express Way at the Toyokawa interchange. Then, head north on the Kokudou 151 (Route151, in the direction of Iida city).

After 70 minutes of driving (45 km), you will arrive in the town of Toei.

Pass through the Shin-hongou tunnel, then turn right just before the first traffic signal. Go straight for about 500 metres and you will reach the Toei sougou grounds. The parking area fits about 300 cars.



Shidara Japanese Taiko Performance Group



The "Shidara" taiko performance group performed their unique music with many traditional instruments such as the Japanese Taiko drum, shamisen, koto, shinobue, and various other instruments.


Shops and stores of local products



Many hometown art work, wood crafts, and local products were displayed and sold at the Hana Matsuri by over 30 local shops and stores from Toei and the neighbouring areas.
