Dengaku of Nishisonome

Dengaku of Nishisonome is held
at the night of Hachiman jinja festival.

The Dengaku dance of Nishisonome is a religious-agricultural event of the Shintou religion. It is performed as a prayer to the gods to invoke a good rice harvest during the spring. Dengaku of Nishisonome is listed as a folkloric artistic work of the town of Toei. The dance has some features that are similar to the Hana Matsuri but, it is different from other Dengaku dances of Kitashitara county (the northeast part of Aichi prefecture).

Until the early period of the Meiji era, there was another Dengaku dance in the Futto area. The equipment of the Futto Dengaku are displayed in the Hana Matsuri Kaikan.
