of Aichi prefecture

Elevation : 1,016 meters

Mt. Myoujin is located on the south-west part of Toei. It has an elevation of 1,016 meters. The mountain is located on the border of of Toei and Horai. Mt. Myoujin is a mountain representative of Aichi prefecture.

"Myoujin," is a name of a praising god. The mountain is an object of a local religion. For many years, many followers have climbed the mountain. Today, Myoujin has a good reputation as a tramping course because of its alpine like features. The stratum of the mountain, which was formed by the upthrust movement of a seamount, has the characteristics of a 2,000 meter high mountain. Such characteristics include sparse rocks of rhyolite and andesite. You can enjoy the thrill of walking beside these rocks even though Myoujin is not a very high mountain. Snowfall on the mountain in winter is rare, so hikers can enjoy climbing all year round. From spring to early summer, flowers of Doudan-tsutsuji (Enkianthus perulatus) grace the tramping routes.

Notice : Climbing Mt. Myoujin is a popular activity, however, if you are inexperienced or are climbing during dangerous weather conditions, use extra care. Please plan wisely and do not climb without an experienced climber.

The tramping routes are variegated with woods, rocks, and chain ladders, so you may not be bored. The huge rock face will provide you a good viewpoint and a rest spot.

A view of Hourai-ko reservoir from the top of Umanose-iwa rock. The rock is quite narrow so please be careful when you are enjoy the scenic view.
